This hasnt happened in awhile but its really freaky. When i was around 10 -12 years of age id hear my name being called in the dead of night. Id wake for a cup of water and if i couldnt sleep id stare out my window into my street. Then if i listened closely id hear people calling my name sometimes far away and sometime really close. It hasnt happened recently makes me question, was this just a figment of my imagination? or was there something with me as a child? Anyone have similar experiences like this? or an explanation? Id really like to know what was the cause of this.

Well, it's true that those below 12 of age are pretty susceptible to paranormal events. A theory we came up with is this: at early stages of life, specifically 0-2 years old, newborns are the most commonly susceptible to the paranormal happenings, since they started out as one of "them". But as years go by, these senses tend to disappear slowly and only a handful are able to retain their "gifts".

In this case, Jade gives you two possible answers:
1. Looking out at some place that makes you go blank causes some part of your brain to function unconsciously, thereby creating an anomaly that creates these "noises".

2. A blank space is a common area for "hearing noises", since a normal person would think "I don't care about this space. There's nothing in it." while a "gifted" person would think "There might not be anything in it physically, but I'm sure something is there."

Whatever the case is, if you hear these "noises" somewhat in the future, do not head to its source or investigate on your own. Instead, take note of what you're hearing, like:

  • Are they saying anything else besides my name?
  • Are there any non-paranormal sounds around (e.g. crickets humming, trees brushing)?
  • How many voices are there?
  • How loud / soft are these voices (1-10 scale)?

I think it's like listening to static and hearing words. Once I was trying to get to sleep and the sound of silence (thought that doesn't make sense) was really loud. When I moved, it was quiet again. I think it's the sound of silence (probably the sound of blood traveling around in the ears) making a kind of static noise that your mind makes into words: the word you would think about most is usually your name as you're programed from birth to recognise and respond to it.

The human mind is designed to find patterns in things (like looking at the clouds and making out the shape of animals or people)

I've also heard people calling my name, usually as I'm just about to fall asleep. Afterwards, It's impossible to get back to sleep.
