One of the most expensive coffins in Malaysia is on loan to the National Museum from Nirvana Memorial Park.
The coffin costs about RM500,000 and boasts special features such as a locking and ventilation system, as well as ultra-luxurious silk lining. It is crafted in a style similar to the coffins that both international celebrities James Brown and Michael Jackson used.
National Museum director-general Datuk Ibrahim Ismail said that the exhibition was aimed at educating the public on the different cultures, traditions and customs in Malaysia.
The coffin will be on display at the museum today and tomorrow, before it is returned to its permanent location at Nirvana Memorial Park's exhibition hall.
