Little Guilin (Bukit Gombak)

May 3, 2010 by dinky_dink

As I sat here in the office, trying to overcome a terrible headache, I am reminded of the time when I actually encountered the entity that resided in Little Guilin. Though there have been many versions of the place, this is my story.

It was in 2002, I was working part-time at Swensens WestMall. After my evening ended, I met up with a guy friend named Zul for a late night chit-chat. Little Guilin was just a stone throw away from where I lived, hence I suggested the place to Zul. Besides the area was still bright and I didn't want to be alone with Zul. The more public the better.

When we reached the place, we sat on some rocks that have been fashioned into seats. Zul started talking about something but my attention was elsewhere. About a distant away, there happened to be a small island protruding out from the main isle. That area is fenced because it's quite steep and besides one the power box is located up there. But I was so sure I saw someone seated alone on one of the rocks. As I stared harder, my gaze got fixated onto the figure.

I was surprised of course, because I realised I couldn't turned to Zul. I tried to move my head, mentally telling myself I got to be strong. Slowly the figure started to take shape. The head of the figure moved in slow motion (like in a movie) towards my direction. As the head turned, the hair started to built up as well. I was more determined to move my attention away from the apparition. I prayed hard and tried to shut my eyes.

I breathe and chanted "Allahu Akhbar" and what do you know...my gaze has been released. I looked at Zul who gave me this questioning look.

"So how?"
"How what?"
"What I said, is it a yes or a no?"
"Oh.." (I was trying to remember).."Ok, yeah.."
"Wow, thanks for accepting me to be your boyfriend.."

[Huh?]..Well I didn't tell Zul about the vision that I had. Apparently 'she' disappeared when I looked upon the rock again. As for Zul, the relationship didn't last either. We broke up after my trip to Gunung Ledang. But that's another story.

Till then...adieu..
